Hello
I’m Laketa and for the longest time, I knew that counseling was the career for me. I’ve always been interested in learning about people and hearing their stories. I’ve always had a big heart for people and I knew that I wanted to make a difference in others’ lives, so naturally, I gravitated towards a helping profession.
My Story
Education
I began my educational journey as a social worker and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Taylor University in 2010. Recently, I graduated from Capella University with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. Currently, I’m working towards licensure so that I can further assist those who desire change and need a place to start.
My Career
Professionally, I began as a caseworker for Park Center where I worked for several years with students with emotional disabilities. From this position, I gained a vast amount of experience and passion for working with children that eventually led me to working for several years as an Instructional Assistant where I worked with students with special needs. Currently, I am a Special Education Therapist and I absolutely love it!
On the Personal Side
My personal life is spent with my children and our pets. We enjoy watching our favorite videos, movies, and tv shows. I also enjoy spending my free time writing poetry and reading.
